Historical weather data can no longer guide how we build modern infrastructure that supports energy, water, transportation and communications. When every year brings unprecedented fires, freeze, floods, heatwaves and other formerly rare disruptive and destructive events, governments, contractors and regulators must find new ways to prepare and protect communities. This talk describes some candidate strategies that have proven helpful.
