About Anita Hill

We are pleased to report that the Anita Hill program was accomplished without a hitch on our end. We really appreciated Taylor Brook's assistance in the initial stages of our search for a speaker and the tenacity Taylor employed in identifying speakers that could accommodate the date of our event. However, we were dismayed by the inflexibility exhibited by the logistics coordinators who subsequently handled the process. We initially hoped to bring Ms. Hill to our campus at least an hour prior to the program to spend some quality time engaging with students however, that time was eliminated from the schedule as we were told that Anita Hill had limited time available. Additionally, we requested the ability to livestream the event to our regional campuses, law school and medical and dental schools as for the first time the university held only one MLK program. We have been working very hard to build a true sense of community with the students, faculty, and staff at those locations. It was indicated that we should have addressed that in the contract and as a result, we offered to do an amendment. Unfortunately, after a series of discussions, which we were told were escalated, it was communicated to us that Anita Hill would not allow live streaming or recording. However, in the midst of conversation on the day of the event, Ms. Hill stated that she was never asked about her willingness to engage with students nor about streaming the event. She noted she always agrees to streaming and recording for internal use given that the talk would have significant archival importance and could have been an enriching educational tool. We would also like to note that there were multiple errors in the Anita Hill bio supplied by All American Entertainment including the misspelling the names of collaborators with Ms. Hill and incorrect dates. Ms. Hill also indicated to us that she has made All American Entertainment aware of those errors in the past. Our initial impression of All American Entertainment was extremely positive because of our interactions with Taylor Brooks. Taylor's drive and attention to detail enhanced our optimism with the process. We hope that with any future collaborations with All American Entertainment, our experience with Taylor will be mirrored by the rest of the team throughout the process.

Reimagining Equality: Stories of Gender, Race, and Finding Home - Book by Anita Hill

Reimagining Equality: Stories of Gender, Race, and Finding Home” (2012)

In this “highly readable and deeply analytical” work, attorney Anita Hill examines the relationship between home ownership and the American Dream through the lens of race and gender (Library Journal). Through the stories of remarkable African American women—including her own great-great-grandmother, playwright Lorraine Hansberry, and Baltimore beauty-shop owner and housing-crisis survivor Anjanette Booker—she demonstrates that the inclusive democracy our Constitution promises must be conceived with home in mind. From slavery to the Great Migration to the subprime mortgage meltdown, Reimagining Equality takes us on a journey that sparks a new conversation about what it means to be at home in America and presents concrete proposals that encourage us to reimagine equality.

Speaking Truth to Power - Book by Anita Hill

Speaking Truth to Power” (1998)

Twenty-six years before the #metoo movement, Anita Hill sparked a national conversation about sexual harassment in the workplace. After her astonishing testimony in the Clarence Thomas hearings, Anita Hill ceased to be a private citizen and became a public figure at the white-hot center of an intense national debate on how men and women relate to each other in the workplace. That debate led to ground-breaking court decisions and major shifts in corporate policies that have had a profound effect on our lives--and on Anita Hill's life. Now, with remarkable insight and total candor, Anita Hill reflects on events before, during, and after the hearings, offering for the first time a complete account that sheds startling new light on this watershed event. Only after reading her moving recollection of her childhood on her family's Oklahoma farm can we fully appreciate the values that enabled her to withstand the harsh scrutiny she endured during the hearings and for years afterward. Only after reading her detailed narrative of the Senate Judiciary proceedings do we reach a new understanding of how Washington--and the media--rush to judgment. And only after discovering the personal toll of this wrenching ordeal, and how Hill copes, do we gain new respect for this extraordinary woman. Here is a vitally important work that allows us to understand why Anita Hill did what she did, and thereby brings resolution to one of the most controversial episodes in our nation's history.
