The Transformational College Experience: How to Make the Most of It
Higher education is not only one of the most substantial investments students will make in their entire life, it is also one of the clearest pathways we have to develop the leaders of the future. The ecosystem of a college campus is a fertile environment for the transformation of students, therefore it is the perfect opportunity to build the transformation leaders of the future.
If you can transform yourself, you can transform one other person. If you can transform one person, you can transform a team. If you can transform a team, you can transform an organization. If you can transform an organization, you can transform a community. If you can transform a community, you can change the world.
In this session I tell the story of how I went through all 6 of these levels of transformational leadership during my time as an undergraduate. I went from failing out of school with a 0.8 GPA as a freshman to traveling the world building leadership development programs before I graduated. Fast forward to today, I am a globally recognized subject matter expert on leadership who serves as a coach and consultant for some of the largest companies in the world. This program, and the book it is designed in parallel with, has improved retention by as much as 18% on campuses that adopt it.
Students will learn:
- The importance of failure along the way, and why it is not only a good thing, but essential to learning
- A deepened understanding of the possibilities available to them as college students, and an enhanced sense of excitement to explore them
- An introduction to the neuroscientific basis for behavior, and strategies they can implement immediately to drive transformational changes in their own life
- Most importantly, they will learn how to become the leaders of the future by first learning how to lead themselves

“The Transformational College Experience: How to Make the Most of It” (2023)
The most recent data suggests that nearly 33% of undergraduates dropout. Of those that graduate, only 27% of them use their degree. If only 67% of students finish, and only 27% of them use that degree, that means only 18% of students who begin their college journey will finish and put that degree to use. Furthermore, nearly 40% of adults over 25 have a bachelor’s degree. This means that attaining a degree is no longer the differentiator it once was. To clarify: college is expensive, difficult to finish, may not be useful to you upon graduation, and may not help you stand out in the job market. So, why go at all? I’m not here to convince you to enroll. I’m here to tell you how college changed my life, and why I would pay 10x what they charged me if I had to, knowing what I know now. This book discusses my unorthodox approach to college and the results speak for themselves.
