My daughter is not ‘special’ or ‘inspiring’ but an essential part of our family and community. Eleven years ago I knew nothing more than a handful of outdated generalisations about Down’s syndrome. Like many of you I undoubtedly thought I knew what it meant, how those who have the condition live their lives. But the notions I clung to when pregnant with our second, much-wanted baby, couldn’t have been further from my current reality.
Natalia's mum, Hayley Goleniowska said: "People fall in love with her every time they meet her. She is living proof that Down's syndrome is very beautiful and special."

Big sister Mia, 9, writes lovingly about life with Natty, who has Down's syndrome. In this inspirational introduction aimed at children, she shows that we are all more alike than we realise. New parents will benefit too, as they share this beautifully illustrated book, complete with family photos. A must-read for families welcoming a new baby with Trisomy 21 into their midst, for teachers discussing inclusion and for medical professionals helping families with a recent diagnosis.

Get to know your new baby for the unique individual they are. These 48 conversation cards help new parents separate the facts from the myths about Down's syndrome, talk through feelings and concerns after a new diagnosis of Down s syndrome and get the early support and intervention they need as a family.
