A one man show utilizing Spoken Word poetry to celebrate educators

In a world where the teaching profession is oft maligned, came a man, a short, bald man, replete with the energy of a man twenty years his junior. His mission: to utilize theatre to extol the virtues of the world’s greatest profession: teaching. His weapons: professional acting experience, twenty plus years in the classroom, the art of improvisation and the spoken word poetry of four-time national slam poet champion, teaching advocate and former teacher Taylor Mali.

"Having my poems find a second life in the way Jerry Seeger has interpreted them and crafted a one-man show around them reminds me that poetry is not mine to keep. Once released, it belongs to anyone who finds meaning in it, anyone bold enough to carry it forward. For a poet, there is no greater honor than seeing your words not just read, but lived and performed. If teaching is a form of performance, then maybe my poems were always meant to end up on stage.
