CDR Herrington shares the story of his journey from rural Oklahoma to the International Space Station with a combination of humor and humility. He recounts those moments in his life when he lacked the motivation to succeed in education and how certain mentors helped him chart a new path and how a chance encounter with a World War II Dauntless Diver Bomber pilot pointed him toward a 22 year career as a Naval Aviator, test pilot and astronaut.
CDR Herrington will share the highs and lows of helping to construct a world class orbital facility and how his experience in space fundamentally changed his view of his place on earth.
