Three and a half years ago, Marissa Mayer took on the impossible. As the chief executive job of Yahoo, she would try to return the Internet giant to relevance. On Tuesday, it finally looked like she might accept defeat. "Today, we're announcing a strategic plan that we strongly believe will enable us to accelerate Yahoo's transformation," Mayer said a company press release accompanying its fourth-quarter earnings. A transformation may sound like Mayer doubling down, but much of the details point to a company preparing to entertain bidders.
