The objective of this presentation is to improve workplace and community culture through appropriate advocacy of marginalized populations (race, gender, disability, orientation). We talk about how you can make a difference for those populations while not appearing to have a "savior" mentality or approach, which can be perceived as demeaning. We explain the similarities and differences between being a champion and ally, equality vs. equity, and the day to day experience of microaggressions. In order to be an effective champion & ally, we must do a deep dive into 3 important questions.

For most of my life, I saw myself as someone who worked hard to win at the game of life, but wasn't. I didn't feel like I was losing, but I wasn't winning, if that makes sense. Like anyone, I questioned why. It wasn't until I learned some crucial lessons, that I started to feel like I was winning at life. In You Can Win Being You, I share insights and strategies. It's a book that readers of all ages can relate to. I share my concepts of SHAPE, YALE, and 3 D Success, which align with Social Emotional Learning initiatives that many schools and colleges are focusing on for students.

An inspiring, quick read for educators written by an actual educator who has taught and led in Title 1 schools and achievement gap programs for over a decade.Just a few decades ago, educators were expected to simply provide instruction and evaluate how well students retained information. Instruction and evaluation tended to be very uniform with little deviation. Minimal consideration was taken into account in regards to student abilities, learning styles, and other considerations. Fast forward to the present. In addition to instruction, which is now heavily influenced by standardized testing, educators are expected to be de facto counselors, social workers, creative trainers, and more. Educators today wear many hats, compared to the past. Most educators willingly step up to all of these duties out of a passion for helping children. However, it does take a certain mindset and approach to avoid mentally "burning out." Success Is A Process, Not An Event, 3rd Edition, is written by an educator and designed to provide insights needed to keep the fire burning and, ultimately, making a positive impact on the students we lead!
