Her story of resilience continued at 13 when she was forcibly married against her will, subjected to months of abuse, and left stranded in a foreign country. Through sheer determination and with the assistance of U.S. authorities, Naila managed to escape and return to the United States, only to face further challenges and trauma.

Turning adversity into strength, Naila emerged as a true hero, dedicating her life to championing human rights and igniting change in child marriage and immigration laws. Her unyielding efforts were instrumental in the passage of "Naila's Law" in New York, which raises the age requirement for marriage to 18, aiming to shield children from forced marriages.
