Pete Cashmore, chief executive and founder of Mashable, will be leaving the digital media and entertainment website at the end of the year, according to a company statement.
Time Warner unit Turner led a $15 million investment round in tech news site Mashable, the companies said Thursday.
Born in Banchory, Scotland, Cashmore founded Mashable in 2005 at the age of 19 while still living with his parents in Aberdeen, Scotland. Cashmore has served as Mashable’s CEO for just over a decade now.
At a panel discussion Monday, Mashable CEO Pete Cashmore announced to the crowd at the South By Southwest Interactive News conference that his company is linking with Bravo to create four short-form original video series. The shows will be six episodes long, and will be distributed digitally across platforms belonging to the companies (as well as social media channels, at times).
