A Black Lady Sketch Show is back for another season of pure hilarity from the minds of brilliant Black women who know how to tap your funny bone. Along with Robin Thede, Gabrielle Dennis and Ashley Nicole Black there’s a new addition to the cast. Skye Townsend, a comedian who rose to fame from YouTube, makes her debut this season. Townsend’s father is actor and director Robert Townsend, known for Parent Hood, The Five Heartbeats, The Meteor Man, Hollywood Shuffle and just being an all-around comedic gem.
Three episodes have been out, and A Black Lady Sketch Show’s second season comes with vibrant colors, skillful satirical writing, and pure Black lady excellence and humor. For folks who don’t know, A Black Lady Sketch Show is a sketch comedy series created by Robin Thede and executive produced by Issa Rae. BGN had the opportunity to talk to the effervescent and multitalented Skye Townsend about her experience as one of the leads this season.
“I always felt there was a lack of representation, and I really wanted to take part in developing some of these characters, just having a chance to wake up and be a different person every day,” Townsend says. She and Laci Mosley joined the cast as featured players for Season 2. The pair join returning core cast members Robin Thede, Gabrielle Dennis and Ashley Nicole Black.
