Providing emotional stories about once being a hopeless youth offers a powerful reminder as to the “why” behind why you do what you do. After reminding attendees of the true impact they have as Just 1 Person in a child’s life, I explore my life-long journey of discovery, hope, and permanence and how various child-serving professionals impacted this journey, both negatively and positively. This presentation often includes the option of incorporating live performance of poetry and lyrics once used to inspire national child welfare legislation. The dots are connected as practical approaches to connecting and empowering are highlighted by uncommon stories of working as an RN in Mental Health and Pediatric Emergency, and as a Mobile Crisis Worker.
