Studies have shown that teachers who utilize ASL can communicate non-verbally to their students keeping the flow and attention of the class intact. Teachers can course correct students who have lost focus without disrupting the other students concentration. It also allows for shyer students to feel that they can communicate to their teacher without drawing unwanted attention, and makes the relationship between the teacher and the students unique by learning a new language together.
